Aerospace Systems Engineer
Description

Gloyer-Taylor Laboratories (GTL) is a growing company headquartered in Tullahoma, TN looking to fill aerospace systems engineering position to support the development of rocket launch vehicles, spacecraft and their components. Work includes exposure to export restricted materials and work eligibility confirmed by E-Verify. All job offers will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

Expectations
  • Perform systems engineering tasks to support the development of launch vehicles and spacecraft including, but not limited to:
    • Develop, define, flow down and track aerospace vehicle (rockets and spacecraft) requirements
    • Develop and refine designs of aerospace vehicles, systems, components and technologies
    • Develop, revise and track systems level documentation for aerospace vehicles, including mass and performance budgets
    • Develop, revise and defend documentation for regulatory agencies (e.g. launch license applications)
    • Develop and implement assembly, integration and test procedures for aerospace vehicles, systems, subsystems, and components, including environmental testing and ground/flight tests
    • Formulate and develop system designs and architectures for rockets, missiles, and spacecraft
    • Evaluate designs and component requirements for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, and GTL quality standards
    • Perform systems analysis to support system testing, integration, and design development
    • Conduct experimental, environmental, operational, or stress tests on models or prototypes of aerospace systems or equipment
  • Assist in writing technical reports or other documentation for use by engineering staff, management, and/or customers
  • Conduct applied research on many different tasks/subtasks of government procurement contracts and internal research and development projects
  • Support business development efforts such as writing proposals, meeting customers and identifying business opportunities
  • Support GTL management as necessary
Desired Experience

Since GTL offers such a diverse line of products and services, candidates are expected to be flexible and comfortable working on multiple assignments with the varying subject matter. This includes creating prototypes starting from the design stage to actually perform hands-on work and physically building the hardware and systems. The ideal candidate would have a broad background with the following additional experience preferred:

  • Understanding of spacecraft subsystems and their associated components. This includes attitude determination and control, spacecraft electrical power systems, space-ground communications, and thermal control
  • Experience in assembly and testing of propulsion systems and aerospace components
  • Experience in product data management (PDM)
  • Experience in the design of propulsion systems, launch vehicles, aerospace components, and composite systems
  • Experience with the application of electrical systems, control systems, sensors and transducers
  • Experience with government regulations, such as launch licensing
  • Expertise in Matlab/Python and SolidWorks
